As the countdown continues...thoughts from Reese

As I was taking Reese to school this morning I stated "Wow! Only 4 more days until we find out what we will be having! You'll either have a brother like you are praying for or you'll have a sister that would be great too!"

He paused and looked at me. Reese said "Well, it would be just a little great." I laughed and thought he would too. Looking at him again, I saw he was very serious! So, just a little while longer and we'll know if Reese gets his way or not.
He is very excited about the baby, though. The other day was a very warm, sunny day and we went out back after school and work to just sit and enjoy the nice weather. I let my tummy get a little sun. Reese looked over and saw how big my tummy had really gotten. He was a little grossed out by my belly button (which is even with the rest of the tummy; regular looking pregnant belly that he has never seen before).
He got to thinking all about the baby and what he can teach him or her and all he can tell them about Mommy before they knew me (this will be fun - LOL). He stopped and said "Does James Allen have earplugs?" I said "Yes, he has a lot that he uses for work." "Oh good," Reese said, " That was there's enough for me, too." I asked him what he was talking about. "When the Baby is born, you are going to scream a lot I think!" I had a good laugh at that one. I reassured him that it would all be okay then he went on thinking of more stories to tell the baby.

Welcome to the Shields Family Blog!

We have finally decided to start our own blog to tell all about what's going on in our lives. We're on the countdown to February 2nd - this is when we find out if we will be having a baby boy or girl in less than 5 months. We can't wait to pick out a definite name, decorate the baby's room, and start shopping for fun clothes and accessories!

Reese has his hopes set on a brother but lately he has started saying "but if it is a girl..." so I think he will be very excited either way. James Allen would love to have a little girl. I think he wants to have that very special "Daddy's Girl" bond just like Reese & I have. But, either way, we will be absolutely thrilled! We just can't wait to find out!
